Animation is the art form Compote Collective feels most comfortable with and that's how they choose to express their creative impulse. As a truly imaginative medium, animation provides many opportunities that remain hidden from the mainstream understanding of this art form. At its core, animation brings to life everything you create, from a drawing to a series of photographs, from a pile of paper collages to everyday objects.

In this two-day workshop, the Compote Collective team will show you examples of experimental animation and invite you to unleash your imagination and experiment with creating animation in the most immediate way. We will explore the theme of figurative and abstract expression and create a Foggy Animated Compote.

Anyone with a curious mind is welcome to join.

Compote Collective was founded in 2008 by Vessela Dantcheva and Ivan Bogdanov. Today it is one of the leading animation production companies in Bulgaria for artistic and independent animated short films. The collective is a platform of animation artists with strong individual styles and a creative hub of more than 15 animation directors. Over the past 15 years, the collective has produced 17 animated short films, which have been selected at over 650 international film festivals and have been awarded more than 70 prizes. Some of the most famous titles are Father (2012), Travelling Country (2016), Trace (2022) and the animated poetry collection Mark and Verse (2015-2020), which consists of 12 shorts inspired by contemporary Bulgarian poetry.
