Edition to the exhibition Postcards and Contraband by Aaron Roth and Nikola Stoyanov curated by Hristo Kaloyanov. "Postcards and Contraband" starts from the research of a service archive from the Customs Agency, Directorate for Combating Drug Trafficking from 1975 to 1985. The service notes, photographs, negatives, summaries, and reports found mark part of the routine of customs work, such as inspection and regulation of transit, but also the diplomatic image that customs must maintain before the international community. Leading here is the suspicion that the archives found give only a partial glimpse of the organized "hidden transit," a term behind which the communist government of the People's Republic of Bulgaria concealed the smuggling trade carried out by State Security through commercial enterprises and organizations.
